What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary Remote Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary Remote Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, React, Node.js, or Python), along with a solid understanding of web development principles and version control systems like Git. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), RESTful APIs, and containerization tools (Docker) is highly valuable, and employers may seek candidates with relevant certifications. Excellent problem-solving, self-motivation, and remote communication skills help developers deliver quality code while collaborating effectively from afar. These combined skills ensure robust, scalable solutions and smooth teamwork in a remote, project-driven environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Temporary Remote Full Stack Developers, and how can they be overcome?

Since the role is both remote and short-term, it's important to proactively seek documentation, participate in onboarding meetings, and use collaboration tools like Slack or Jira for clear communication. Establishing regular check-ins with team members and asking clarifying questions early can help overcome potential roadblocks and ensure successful project contributions.

Job description

Preferably in the Central European Time Zone
Overview
At Leadership Circle, we are reimagining how leadership grows from one-time events to personalized, continuous, human-centered experiences.
We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team supporting Project Center and LeadHub while helping us evolve toward our next-generation platform.
This role requires working across the full stack including backend services, APIs, and frontend user experiences, beginning with maintaining existing systems built on Ruby on Rails and Next.js and transitioning into building on a new platform using Next.js, NestJS, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
A core expectation of this role is the active and effective use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code. Success in this role will require embracing AI as a fundamental part of the development process to accelerate learning, improve code quality, and increase delivery velocity.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Develop and maintain full stack features across our current platform including Ruby on Rails backend services and Next.js and React frontend applications
โ€ข Support and troubleshoot production issues across Project Center and LeadHub including participation in on-call rotations
โ€ข Collaborate with teammates to ensure system stability, performance, and reliability across both frontend and backend systems
โ€ข Contribute to platform transition efforts by migrating and re-imagining features across the full stack in the new architecture, improving service design, and ensuring data integrity
โ€ข Build new full stack features on the next-generation platform using Next.js for the frontend, NestJS for the API layer, and Aurora PostgreSQL for the database
โ€ข Build and consume RESTful APIs and support integrations with internal and external systems
โ€ข Work with PostgreSQL databases including writing queries, optimizing performance, and supporting schema evolution
โ€ข Collaborate with AWS services such as S3, Lambda and SQS for storage and asynchronous processing
โ€ข Implement and maintain authentication flows using Auth0 and OAuth standards
โ€ข Write automated tests such as RSpec and Jest and maintain code quality through thoughtful code reviews
โ€ข Actively use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code as a core part of daily development including code generation, refactoring, debugging, and system comprehension
โ€ข Continuously improve how AI tools are used within the team to increase development speed, reduce friction, and improve overall engineering effectiveness
โ€ข Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and fellow engineers by communicating proactively, sharing context, and contributing to team discussions
Requirements
โ€ข 2 to 5 years of software engineering experience with full stack development responsibilities
โ€ข Experience with Ruby on Rails preferably Rails 6 or higher
โ€ข Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript with React or Next.js
โ€ข Experience building and maintaining both frontend and backend systems
โ€ข Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
โ€ข Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
โ€ข Comfort working across both existing systems and newer architectures
โ€ข Ability to balance short-term maintenance needs with long-term platform evolution
โ€ข Experience with Git workflows and collaborative development practices
โ€ข Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset with a willingness to ask questions when stuck, share context proactively, and believe the best solutions come from collaboration
โ€ข Comfort giving and receiving feedback in code reviews and team discussions
โ€ข Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT as a regular part of the development workflow
โ€ข Strong ability to evaluate, validate, and improve AI-generated code to ensure production-quality outcomes
โ€ข Mindset that embraces AI as a force multiplier for engineering productivity and continuous learning
Bonus
โ€ข Experience with NestJS or similar Node.js backend frameworks
โ€ข Experience participating in system migrations or platform transitions
โ€ข Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, SQS, and RDS or Aurora as well as Auth0, OAuth, Docker, or background job systems
โ€ข Experience helping teams adopt AI-assisted development practices
