Job description

Title: IT Infrastructure Administrator III

Pay Rate: $53.41 - $57.00 p/h

Location: Downtown LA (near Union Station)

Schedule: Hybrid 6:30am - 4:30pm Monday & Tuesday's (onsite), through Friday with alternating Friday's off

MWD currently looking for a temporary opening for an IT Infrastructure Administrator III for our Headquarters located downtown (Union Station) Los Angeles, CA.  The temp labor assignment is up to 6 months, and the work schedule is hybrid (Mon & Tues ONSITE) schedule.  

Schedule: 6:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday and Tuesday (ONSITE) through Friday with alternating Fridays off.

This role will require you to use judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application to specific cases or problems. The decision regarding what needs to be done depends upon the analysis of the subject, phase, or issues involved in each assignment, and the chosen course of action may have to be selected from many alternatives. The IT Infrastructure Administrator III be responsible for the Day to day technical and administrative tasks pertaining to our infrastructure environment, specifically Linux, HPUX, Windows, SAN Storage and Backup administration.  

Special RequirementsSAN/NAS experience a plus. administration, Backup/restore, and Linux administration. HPUX, OpenShift and Windows Server experience.  

General Required Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and procedures of Information Technology; systems analysis; application, and peripheral equipment; principles and practices of system testing, analysis, data management and integrity; hardware and software configuration; operational characteristics of various computer systems; system administration for related discipline; disaster recovery practices; and current office technology and equipment.

Server Administration Required Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and procedures of server hardware, operating systems, storage area networks, and centralized backup systems; principles, practices and procedures of system management software, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam software; and methods and techniques to develop, test, and implement server systems.

Desktop Administration Required Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and procedures for client side Information Technology components including personal computers, peripherals, mobile devices, networking, security, software; systems analysis; application, and peripheral equipment; principles and practices of system testing, analysis, data management and integrity; hardware and software configuration; operational characteristics of client computer systems; system administration for related discipline; and system recovery techniques for hardware, software, and data.

•      Extensive knowledge in VMware Horizon VDI design and implementation.

•      Extensive knowledge in VMware multi-site, multi-VCS design and implementation.

•      Extensive knowledge in VMware VSAN design and implementation.

•      Extensive knowledge in Windows Servers and Active Directory Administration.

•      Extensive knowledge in networking technologies

Server Administration Required Skills and Ability to: Monitor and optimize server systems; install, configure, and support server software, upgrades, and patches; and develop server backup and recovery procedures.

Desktop Administration Required Skills and Ability to: Serve as project lead on large systems for design, analysis, test, and implementation; respond to system problems and administration; analyze requests and provide customer assistance for solutions; effectively interact with end-users and other technical service providers to resolve technical issues; ability to develop new information technology concepts and procedures; and work at this level often leads to recognition as a subject matter expert in the specialized area.

The IT Infrastructure Administrator III will perform technical administration and other administrative tasks pertaining to:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, troubleshooting and patching
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • HPUX administration and troubleshooting
  • SAN/NAS administration
  • Backup and restore from our Enterprise Backup Solutions
  • Azure IaaS design, Migration, and Administration

Desires Experience Below:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience..
  • EXPERT KNOWLEDGE: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and newer, SQL Server databases administration 2012 and newer, administration, Backup/restore, and Linux administration. HPUX, OpenShift and Windows Server experience.  SAN/NAS experience a plus.
  • Monitor and optimize server systems; install, configure, and support server software, upgrades, and patches; and develop server backup and recovery procedures.  
  • Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience supporting centralized backup systems.
  • Experience supporting Del//EMC SAN/NAS.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Exposure to VMware infrastructure support.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure IaaS, OCI Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).
  • Maintain confidentiality for proprietary and personal information, Team Player, Problem Solver, Multitask and handles pressure well.
  • Detail orient, Project Oriented, Organized, Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills a must.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License that allows you to drive in the course of your employment.
