This position exists to provide report processing, receptionist services, secretarial and general clerical assistance to the Minnesota State Patrol, its employees, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Skill in data entry sufficient to receive and review source documents, compare documents to database information, and edit documents

  • Knowledge of communications sufficient to present clear and concise explanations of governing rules and regulations in a manner that is understandable

  • Knowledge of standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, and protect files

  • Skill in typing/keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner

  • Skill in customer service to respectfully engage with clients, coworkers and customers, when handling difficult or complex problems and resolving escalated complaints or disputes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SWIFT (Statewide Integrated Financial Tool System), Employee Self-Service, CAD, data privacy rules, policies and procedures

  • Database management with strong organizational and time management skills

  • Data practices knowledge or experience

  • Experience using a multi-line telephone system

  • Experience providing administrative support in Law Enforcement

  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
