Job description

About the Job
 

The School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities occasionally needs to hire employees on a temporary and/ or casual basis through the year. These positions perform a variety of nonacademic and/ or academic work responsibilities in a temporary or casual work schedule. 
Temporary: Limited to 67 or fewer days of work in a calendar year. 
Casual: Limited to working 14 or fewer hours per week; are not limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year. 
Duties may include, but are not limited to: 
- (50%) Collaborate with School of Mathematics faculty and/ or staff to facilitate ongoing projects 
- (50%) Gather and analyze data
This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2025-2026 fiscal year (July 2025 - June 2026). Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis.  Appointments are based on need, funding, and performance.

-Educational, certification, and work experience requirements are based on, and cannot exceed, the qualifications for work performed in comparable UMN job classifications.
*Any preferred qualifications are determined by the supervisor.

About the Department
 

The School of Mathematics, located in the heart of the College of Science and Engineering, has about sixty faculty covering essentially all areas of mathematics.

The School has a long history of interdisciplinary research, but is equally strong in the core areas of mathematics. PhD alumni and alumnae are spread throughout universities, colleges, industry, and national labs.

Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Range: $15.25 - $45.00 /hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
