Position Description & Qualifications
Lawrence University invites applications for a one-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor to begin September 1, 2026. We seek candidates who will contribute to our growing statistics and data science program, which includes a new Data Science and Statistics major. A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, data science, mathematics, or a closely related field is preferred; a master's degree is required. Candidates should demonstrate potential for teaching a variety of undergraduate statistics and data science courses, including courses using R or Python.
Responsibilities include teaching two undergraduate courses in each of Lawrence's three ten-week terms. The successful candidate will be the third statistics and data science faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science.
