Overview
TRC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Designer to join our growing transportation practice in Baton Rouge, LA.
The Senior Designer will support licensed engineers in developing layouts and designs for transportation and roadway infrastructure projects across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region. As a key member of a project team, the Senior Designer will work under the guidance of Engineering Management to ensure technical excellence, quality delivery, and professional growth.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare plans, sketches, and specifications for transportation and roadway projects
  • Develop roadway geometry, drainage, grading, and erosion control designs consistent with LADOTD standards and local jurisdictional requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations and quantity takeoffs to support roadway and drainage design efforts
  • Utilize MicroStation and Inroad's SS2 to produce plans, profiles, and cross sections
  • Assist with cost estimates, field investigations, surveys, and preparation of technical exhibits
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents and technical specifications
  • Compile and review existing conditions data, including survey, utility, and drainage information
  • Support the Project Engineer with coordination with LADOTD and local agencies, and preparation of plans for agency review and approval
  • Provide construction-phase support as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in engineering, drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in transportation and roadway design for public-sector infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of LADOTD standards, including roadway geometry, drainage, and permitting requirements, is highly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MicroStation and InRoads SS2, including roadway layout, drainage, profiles, and cross sections
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations related to roadway and drainage design is preferred
  • Experience coordinating with state and local agencies in Louisiana is a plus

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
