Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, layouts, and work instructions to determine work requirements.
  • Plan and execute work activities in accordance with project requirements, established procedures, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with supervision and other crafts to complete work efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain records, document work activities, and provide progress updates as required.

Millwright Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and align industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Perform equipment setting, leveling, precision alignment, and mechanical assembly activities.
  • Assist with rigging, moving, positioning, and securing equipment.
  • Inspect and repair pumps, gearboxes, rotating equipment, conveyors, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and layout tools to verify equipment tolerances and alignment.
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, capital projects, and maintenance activities.

Civil Carpenter Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and material requirements.
  • Construct, install, maintain, and repair structures, fixtures, forms, and related components.
  • Build, erect, and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, stairs, and temporary structures as required.
  • Shape, cut, and fit construction materials using hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate and install reinforcing steel and rebar systems.
  • Mix, place, finish, and repair concrete and asphalt surfaces.
  • Verify grade, elevation, plumb, alignment, and structural integrity of completed work.
  • Repair or replace damaged portions of structures and facilities.

Quality
  • Ensure all work meets applicable specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Verify equipment and structures are installed correctly and functioning as intended.
  • Identify and report deficiencies or conditions that may impact safety, quality, or productivity.

Relationships & Communication
  • Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and customers.

  • Follow all Austin Industrial, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Participate in job safety analyses, pre-task planning, and safety meetings.

Qualifications
Education
  • No minimum education requirement.

Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of journeyman-level experience in Millwright, Civil Carpenter, Industrial Maintenance, Construction, or related craft disciplines.

Certifications / Licenses
  • NCCER Millwright, NCCER Carpenter, or equivalent craft certification preferred.
  • TWIC Card required.
  • Valid government-issued identification required.
  • Forklift operating experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance and construction practices, equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
