Work EnvironmentMachine shops, manufacturing plantsMachine shops, manufacturing plants
Industry UsageManufacturing, aerospace, automotiveManufacturing, aerospace, automotive
Job FocusHigh-precision parts, detailed machiningGeneral CNC machining, parts production

Temporary Precision Machining involves detailed, high-precision work often requiring specialized skills, while Temporary CNC Machining focuses on operating CNC machines for a broader range of parts. Both roles share similar environments and certifications but differ in the complexity and focus of the machining tasks.

What is the highest paying machining job?

In precision machining, roles such as CNC programmer or CNC supervisor tend to be among the highest paying positions, especially for those with advanced skills, certifications, and experience operating complex machinery. Senior machinists and specialized toolmakers can also earn higher wages, particularly in industries like aerospace or medical device manufacturing.

Are machinists still in demand?

Machinists are still in demand due to ongoing manufacturing needs and the increasing use of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. Skilled machinists with experience in precision machining, CAD/CAM software, and certifications are particularly sought after in various industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing.

Can a CNC machinist make 100k a year?

A CNC machinist can potentially earn $100,000 annually with advanced skills, experience, and working in high-demand industries or locations. Achieving this salary often requires proficiency with complex machinery, certifications, and sometimes overtime or supervisory roles.

Will CNC machinists be replaced by AI?

CNC machinists operate computer-controlled machines and are essential for precision manufacturing. While AI and automation can handle routine tasks, skilled machinists are needed for programming, setup, and troubleshooting, making complete replacement unlikely in the near term.
