Company Summary

At Young Innovations, we foster a dynamic environment where team members make an impact every day as part of a collaborative, inclusive culture. Together, we serve the dental profession and their patients, united in our mission of achieving a Lifetime of Oral Health.

Position Overview

As part of Young’s Data Team, the Senior BI Developer is an end-to-end business intelligence role responsible for creating and designing models and dashboard reporting to support enterprise-wide decision making. The role requires a strong understanding of business processes, excellent listening skills, and the ability to transform complex concepts into dashboard reporting that highlights critical KPIs and information needed at decision points for business users.

The Senior BI Developer will report to the Director of Strategy, Data & Analytics and will operate with significant autonomy, driving projects forward while regularly engaging with senior leadership. Core responsibilities include managing complex data projects end-to-end, analyzing large datasets, developing and implementing predictive models, and translating findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.

  • Full medical, dental, vision, 401k, parental leave, paid holidays, paid time off, short- & long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program, and more!
Who You'll Work With

Responsibilities
  • Take structured data for reporting that meets functional requirements across business units to deliver actionable insights in Power BI dashboards for recurrent use or summarized results for executive and management use in ad-hoc reporting.
  • Work with business users to define business problems and align reporting and KPIs to objectives.
  • Leverage data warehouse, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure, and data lakes to deliver consistent and reliable data to end users.
  • Own communications and project management with stakeholders including executive, commercial, product, operations, and data teams.
  • Utilize large-scale datasets through distributed computing and modern data platforms to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, Commercial, Customer Service, Finance, and Operations, to define analytical needs and deliver actionable solutions.
  • Translate vague asks and complex findings into actionable insights using dashboards, data visualizations, and reports tailored for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify hidden trends and opportunities proactively.
  • Reduce manual reporting through automation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, not just a report builder.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in math, economics, finance, data analytics, statistics or equivalent/related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in BI development, data visualization, and/or analytics.
  • Strong expertise in Fabric, Power BI and other Power Platform programs, Power Query, and advanced visualization techniques beyond standard functionality.
  • Advanced training and experience working with SQL databases and other big data technologies.
  • Advanced Power BI, including writing DAX queries and customizations.
  • Strong analytical skills; specifically, knowledge of advanced analytical tools including Python, SSIS, SQL, or other analytic software packages.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and dimensional modeling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in support of cross-functional teams in agile environments.
  • Strong general business acumen and an ability to translate business user needs into technical requirements.
  • Technical skills: SQL, Python, DAX.
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification (Exam PL-300) preferred.
