Position Summary The Production Utility Operator provides support across coating and laminating operations by assisting with machine setups, material handling, and general production activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient workflow by supporting production crews and filling operational needs as required. The employee will be cross-trained in multiple coating line positions to provide coverage for temporary vacancies and production demands.

The Production Utility Operator works under the direct supervision of the assigned Crew Chief and receives work assignments exclusively from the Production Supervisor or their designated representative. The position may require the use of various hand tools and equipment specific to assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist production line operations with activities as directed by the supervisor, including but not limited to:
    • Laminating operations
    • Interleaving processes
    • Coating line setup and cleanup
    • Core cutting
    • Material handling
    • Other production support functions as required
  2. Participate in cross-training across various production positions to develop operational flexibility and provide coverage for temporary staffing needs.
  3. Safely operate tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.
  4. Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures while maintaining productivity standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Maintain housekeeping standards and cleanliness within assigned work areas.
  2. Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  3. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to perform a variety of production and material-handling tasks.
  • Coating line experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple production processes through cross-training.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the work shift.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
