Job description

JOB TITLE: Development Technician

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: New Product Development

REPORTS TO: Senior Development Technician

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Support the New Product Development team in system design and lay-up, fabrication, materials identification, and process creation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and maintain work environment for various projects within NPD area;
  • Create/fabricate work product in support of new product development efforts;
  • Uses chemicals, adhesives, solvents, lubricants, epoxies, paints, and inks, as required, with the Personal Protective Equipment required by the organization.
  • Coordinate materials handling activities with pertinent suppliers and warehouse personnel;
  • Attend relevant internal and external technical meetings;
  • Supply data for new technology briefings for internal and (when applicable) external presentations; and

Other duties and areas may be assigned to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in engineering and/or manufacturing environment required;
  • Knowledge of ballistic materials;
  • Excellent organizational, technical and communication skills
  • Must be eligible for forklift certification within 30 days of position appointment.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.

Compliance with all personnel policies.

This position requires use of and access to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Accordingly, all Development Technicians must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

This position also requires that the employee be eligible for a government security clearance.
