Job description

Bethany of the Northwest, an icon of the healthcare industry in the Northwest for nearly 100 years, is seeking a temporary part time Activities Assistant for maternity cover at our Silver Lake facility.

We are looking for a temporary Activities Assistant who is responsible to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementing a program of therapeutic activities designed to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical needs and interest of residents in accordance with the comprehensive resident care plan.
Schedule: Part time various days including some evenings and weekends shift times vary 9-5pm, 10-6pm and 11-7pm 24-32 hours per week
Pay Range: $22-$25 per hour DOE

Job Duties:
  • Assist in the development, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of the activity programs of the facility.
  • Keep records as necessary ensure that regulations are followed.
  • Coordinate with other departments for special events and activity programs.
  • Assists with the training and supervision of volunteers.
  • Assist with transporting residents to all scheduled activities.
  • Run the activities as well as making sure that all other scheduled activities are covered.
  • Participate in the Care Plan meetings for residents on unit to which you are assigned.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs of the resident and the goals for each problem/need identified.

  • High School diploma or GED desirable. Must participate in programs for continuing education, working towards certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professions or a similar program.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, volunteers, personnel and support agencies.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Two years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
