Position Summary
Operate a variety of light equipment used at golf courses; perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and perform a range of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  1. Operate light equipment used to maintain golf courses, parks and/or facilities including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, small tractors, blowers, weed eaters, hedge cutters and various other light equipment.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; perform minor field repairs to equipment; service and lubricate equipment as necessary.
  3. Transport vehicles to and from work site on public right-of-ways and City owned facilities; identify light equipment needs for each assigned project; pick-up and deliver equipment.
  4. Oversee the operation and use of reel type or rotary mower to cut grass on fairways, roughs, tees and greens; aerate fairways, green banks and roughs; spray herbicide and fungicides.
  5. Load trucks with bulky trash, pipes, and other material or debris; shovel dirt, asphalt, trash and debris.
  6. Make daily operation and maintenance reports at end of work shift. Keep records and logs as needed.
  7. May perform erosion control work in the construction of grade control structures, rock and brush dams, water bars and related earthwork.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years of experience performing general grounds maintenance work involving the operation of light maintenance equipment and hand tools.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Evenings and/or weekend work may be required.
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to dust, noise, heavy construction equipment; toxic materials; work in inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing; moderate to heavy lifting; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
