Under the general supervision of clinical leadership, the Athletic Trainer/Orthopedic Technologist provides professional health care and clinical support services within the orthopedic trauma practice. This role serves as a liaison between providers and patients, ensuring high-quality, coordinated care.
Responsibilities include performing advanced orthopedic procedures such as FRC casting, plaster splinting, and assisting in both outpatient and inpatient (hospital and operating room) settings. Additional duties involve wound care management, including pin removal, staple and suture removal, wound vacuum management, and dressing changes. The role also includes fitting and educating patients on the use of durable medical equipment (DME).

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training required (graduation from CAATE accredited program). Master's degree preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) temporary/permanent license as an Athletic Trainer required or in compliance with the state practice act. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. BOC certification. NBCOT certification (eligible or application in process). Casting certification required or needs to obtain within six months of start date.
  3. Experience: One year of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
