Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an efficient and friendly Optical Receptionist to join our team. The Optical Receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting with basic administrative tasks in an optometry or ophthalmology office setting.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in office management is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a customer service or receptionist role, preferably in a medical or optical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with insurance verification processes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain organized appointment calendars.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect co-payments or payments for services.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documents.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
