Job description

Onsite | Boston, MA | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Overview
We are seeking a Temporary Health Information Specialist to support Release of Information (ROI) services at Boston Medical Center. This role is covering an employee on FMLA leave and is expected to last a few months.

This is an onsite, patient-facing position responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant processing of medical record requests in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide phone support to patients, providers, and authorized requestors
    Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and within required turnaround times
    Fax, scan, and manage incoming and outgoing medical record requests
    Burn medical images to CDs and facilitate electronic image sharing
    Perform data entry and basic administrative support functions
    Maintain compliance with HIPAA and facility privacy policies
    Lift up to 20 lbs as needed

Training & Onboarding
VROI training supported
On-the-job, onsite training provided within the first 30 days

Preferred Skill Set:
Strong communication skills
Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
Computer proficiency and data entry accuracy
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Must be 18 years of age or older
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
