This opportunity offers physicians the chance to make a meaningful impact while serving those who serve our nation. We are seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife for a short-term contract supporting the Department of Defense at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, its Associated Branch Health Clinics, and the U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa (3rd Dental Battalion) in Okinawa, Japan. As a member of the Advancia Aeronautics team, you will provide high-quality medical care to active-duty service members, their families, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other authorized beneficiaries while gaining valuable experience in an international setting. This assignment offers the unique opportunity to live and work in Okinawa's vibrant cultural environment while contributing to the health and readiness of the U.S. military community overseas.

Position Title: Certified Nurse Midwife 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform a broad range of duties as a Certified Nurse Midwife in accordance with commercial best practices, local, federal, and agency-wide guidance.

  • Provide comprehensive primary care to women from menarche through menopause. Plan and manage prenatal, postpartum, well woman gynecologic, family planning and pre-conceptual care.

  • Participate in the care of women with medical complications.

  • Consultation, collaboration and referral with Obstetricians-Gynecologists.

  • Manage the care of normal antepartum women to include teaching, counseling and support.

  • Take a health history and perform and record the obstetrical physical evaluation. Collect, document, and evaluate patient data.

  • Assess patient needs, formulate, and implement a plan of care for each patient consistent with established guidelines.

  • Manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care.

  • Perform the following: manage and control normal spontaneous deliveries; record the labor and delivery.

  • Maintain all required patient records and report pertinent information.

  • Prescribe medications, as required, in accordance with MTF privileges. 

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Must possess a Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.

  • Be a graduate from a certified nurse midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).

  • Must possess certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board

  • Must hold a full, current, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia that abides by the State requirements of the location of performance.

  • Must possess Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications
