Position Summaryย 
The Roads, Bridges & Engineering department is looking for individuals who are interested in being considered for Temp Laborer opportunities. Applications are accepted and valid each year.ย 
Positions are only available when there is a vacancy within the hiring department. As positions become available, applications will be considered based on experience, education, and special requirements.ย

Works under direct supervision to perform physical labor/work assignments of an unskilled nature generally in an outside location.ย 
Pay Grade: 41Hย 
Minimum Qualificationsย 
Tenth (10) grade education; AND

Work experience in an outdoor environment is preferred.

PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilitiesย 
Performs unskilled labor of a manual nature, assisting in various sections, including but not limited to, construction sites, vegetation, and landfill areas, roadside and rights-of-way, asphalt paving, bridge or sign repair, parks, and county facilities.

Clears trash and brush, cleans, cleans ditches, mows, and sprays grass and weeds, etc.

Operates non-complex equipment, and tractors, flags traffic, and spots trucks for dumping and other deliveries.

Brings supplies and equipment to labor sites, loads, and unloads materials, cleans equipment and vehicles.

Uses hand tools and power equipment as assigned.

Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Ability to communicate verbally with the supervisor.

Physical ability to perform assigned work tasks.

Ability to follow instructions and learn techniques commonly used in construction, vegetation control, asphalt, and bridge maintenance.

Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and public citizens.

Knowledge of the use of hand tools and power equipment used in vegetation control work, construction, asphalt, and bridge maintenance.
Physical Requirementย 
Requires heavy lifting up to 90 pounds, pulling, climbing, stooping, bending, standing for a long time, etc. while performing the essential job duties.
Special Requirementsย 
Some of the temporary positions may require working at multiple locations if needed.

May require a valid Tennessee Driver's license or secure one upon date of employment.

If a driver's license is required, must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon the date of employment.

Must submit to and pass drug and alcohol screening.
