Position Summary:

The Masters of Sport Management (MSM) program invites applications for temporary, part-time adjunct instructors. These positions will be 4.5 or 9-month academic appointments with the potential for summer teaching. Successful candidates will be expected to teach and develop courses in the MSM graduate core and elective curriculum. The primary purpose of these positions is to support the MSM program through teaching and service. These positions will join a collegial group of committed faculty, will teach/co-teach a maximum of three academic courses per semester (with the possibility of teaching during the summer). Salary is dependent on degree type, teaching load, and service expectations.

Work Unit Description:

The Masters of Sport Management (MSPMT) is part of the School of Public Policy and Innovative Leadership within the College of Liberal Arts. The MSPMT program aims to prepare dynamic leaders for tomorrow's sport industry through scholarship, leadership, diversity, and quality academic and practical experience through a mixture of academic and applied education in areas such as sport governance, policy, marketing, communications and leadership. Drawing from interdisciplinary frameworks, all curriculum of the MSPMT program is geared towards providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful sport industry leaders. Graduates of the sport management master's program will gain practical and theoretical knowledge to pursue a range of mid-high level positions in sport. Students are prepared to pursue leadership roles within sport equipped with critical understandings and tools for effective responsiveness to the shifts in industries of sport. Course instruction is delivered in both online and in-residence formats.

Salary Range:

$46,000 - $48,000

Essential Job Duties:

The essential job duties will be teaching, which may include:

  • Preparing lectures

  • Creating assignments

  • Holding office hours

  • Grading course materials

Conditions of Employment:

Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires)

Supervision:

This position reports to the Director of Sports Management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the sports industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of on-air experience with mainstream media (e.g. podcasts, radio shows, newspaper, online, etc.)
