Job description

Summary:

The NorCal Design Center is searching for a talented Page Designer to join our dynamic team. We design 12 daily newspapers and four weekly publications, delivering engaging and visually appealing content to our readers. As a Page Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the look and feel of our newspapers. This position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Please note, only candidates residing in the Northern California region will be considered.

What you will do:

  • Design engaging pages using InDesign

  • Collaborate effectively with editors at various NorCal publications to ensure content is presented clearly and effectively

  • Proofread all pages for spelling, grammar, and layout consistency to ensure high-quality production

  • Implement strong layout and composition techniques to enhance the reader's experience

  • Develop a working knowledge of the specific publications being designed and how that relates to the reader

  • Stay updated with design trends and bring innovative ideas to the table

  • Learn applicable softwares/platforms

What you will bring:

  • Familiarity with basic computer programs and communication tools like Gmail and Google Chat

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in InDesign is preferred, but not required-we're willing to train the right candidate

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of professional experience

  • A keen eye for detail to ensure error-free and polished designs

Benefits and Compensation:

The hourly wage is $16.90 or required city/county minimum wage.
