Job description

Temporary Instructor: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the RAD-Radiology department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

Instructional Development: Participate in selection, on-line development and revision of individual course materials (syllabi, objectives, evaluation methods, texts, computer software, etc) and overall program curriculum for the MRI program. Integrates information from advisory boards and other sources into current curriculum courses. Teaching Performance: Be prepared to teach any assigned course in the MRI program by employing appropriate teaching strategies & relating course work requirements to published objectives and demonstrating effective interaction skills with students. Maintain positive student and supervisor evaluations. Pace instruction over the term providing timely tests and test results and following acceptable department and college grading policies. Provide tutoring for students as needed including developing prescriptive methods to increase success and retention. Instructional Management: Maintain and manage an appropriate learning environment in class and clinic. Maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner. Acts as an effective communication link between faculty/students and supervisor. Student Advisement: Provide academic advising for pre-curriculum and curriculum MRI students according to college/department policy as it relates to students' needs and problems including maintenance of records and appropriate referral. Maintain and publicize required official office hours and communicate and/or meet with students in a timely manner while displaying sensitivity to students' needs and problems. College and Community Service: Display a positive attitude toward the college, division, department, other instructional areas, and college support services. Accept accountability for program outcomes. Provide appropriate administrative reports and report safety hazards. Cooperate with or participate in projects in fulfillment of the College's mission. Support continuing education efforts of the college.

Additionally, it may involve interaction with area hospitals & outpatient centers. Course assignments will be determined by the Dept. Head of Benson Health Sciences. The department head will closely monitor all administrative and teaching activities.

Minimum Qualifications: An associate degree; demonstrated competencies in the discipline, and hold a current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic technologists in Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum requirements include at least three (3) years recent professional experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging; registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both magnetic resonance imaging and radiography; Associate Degree, Bachelor degree preferred; previous teaching experience preferred; experience in online learning management systems such as Blackboard preferred. Individual should have appropriate knowledge and skills to coordinate instruction, teach any courses in magnetic resonance program. Attainment of technical skills should be via graduation from accredited curricula in radiography and relevant training in magnetic resonance and experience requirements listed previously. Previous teaching experience would document acquisition of teaching skills. In addition, the individual should have extensive computer experience.
