Job description

The Safety Engineer is the entry-level field safety role responsible for supporting project teams in implementing site safety plans, performing inspections, conducting orientations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. This position spends part of their time in the office focused on documentation and tracking with the other part being spent in the field developing foundational safety knowledge required for advancement in the safety career track.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leads project-level new hire safety orientations and assists with subcontractor orientation processes.
• Performs daily jobsite safety inspections and documents findings; assists in correcting unsafe conditions.
• Supports implementation of site-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Records and manages on-site safety paperwork, including logs, inspections, and reports.
• Assists Safety Manager with injured workers and support return-to-work processes as needed.
• Assists with weekly tailgate meetings and field safety communications.
• Participate in incident/near miss reporting and supports investigations.
• Assists Safety Managers/Project Coordinators with project-level substance abuse testing in accordance with company policy.
• Serves as a field safety resource to craft workers, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Supports documentation and administrative tasks related to safety compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
• Basic understanding of safety regulations, construction processes, and risk management techniques.
• Familiarity with jobsite safety inspections and documentation processes.
• Ability to learn and utilize safety management software and tools.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office and mobile applications used in field safety.
• Understanding of hazard identification and reporting.
• Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety principles preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in safety, construction management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in construction safety preferred.
• Holds an OSHA 10 certification, OSHA 30 and STSC preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Frequent walking, climbing, standing, and navigating active construction sites; ability to lift up to 30 pounds; Exposure to weather and loud noise.

The range of base pay is $85,000 - $95,000. Actual pay is based on individual skill level and experience.
