Do you have a passion for working with families and individuals in need of healthcare, housing, and community support services?

Community of Hope is seeking a Temporary Community Outreach Specialist to work 30 hours per week with an anticipated end date of 12.31.26. In this role, you will collect meaningful data and feedback from community members to help inform and improve programming at the Bellevue Family Success Center and Community of Hope's health centers. You will also help raise awareness of Community of Hope's resources, programs, and services offered through the Bellevue Family Success Center's place-based initiative and at Community of Hope's health centers. Join a mission-driven team dedicated to ending homelessness and making a difference every day. This position is located at Conway Health and Resource Center in Southwest, DC.

What You'll Do

  • Canvasses various locations and maintains outreach presence in Wards 5, 7 & 8, including door-to-door outreach. 
  • Identifies community outreach and engagement activities, to include events held at Community of Hope and/or partner locations. 
  • Tables at public events as well as partner events. 
  • Engages in patient/client/resident/family feedback following appointments/service interactions at Conway Health and Resource Center, Family Health and Birth Center, Marie Reed Health Center, and other COH sites, including (but not limited to) patient satisfaction surveys and needs assessments. 
  • Engages with the community, answers COH related questions, and disseminates COH program information. 
  • Gains community interest for Community of Hope's Bellevue Family Success Center services, events and activities, to include attending community meetings, events and engagement opportunities in the Bellevue, Washington Highland, Fort Stanton and Anacostia communities.  
  • Identifies engagement and partnership opportunities and assists Vice President of Community Impact and Evaluation (VPCIE) with being an interdepartmental liaison for partnership information. 
  • Support special projects, events, and initiatives to include, but not limited to, Back to School Bash, Holiday Market, MLK parade, Ladies Night In, Face Mask Giveaways, etc. 
  • Provides administrative support to the Bellevue Family Success Center Community Advisory Council, and to the Director of Family Success Centers. 
  • Report success center outreach outcomes monthly from all outreach and engagement activities. 


Requirements

Must-Haves

  • GED or High School Diploma or equivalent experience required. 
  • Must have reliable transportation. 
  • Able to stand or walk for long periods of time (sometimes outdoors in extreme weather conditions) and able to lift up to 50 pounds. 

Nice-to-Haves

  • Strong knowledge of neighborhoods in Ward 5, 7 & 8 preferred. 
  • 3 + years of outreach or equivalent experience (i.e., door-to-door, tabling, information sharing) preferred.  
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends and travel to other sites preferred. 
  • Experience working in a non-profit social service environment a plus.  
  • Experience working with Microsoft Outlook, TEAMS and Excel a plus.
