Job Title: Medical Records & Billing Specialist
Pay Rate: $21.00 / hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (Contract-to-Permanent)
Location: Brentwood, TN (On-site during training/contract period; Hybrid 2-3 days remote post-conversion)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated Medical Records & Billing Specialist to join a mission-driven healthcare organization in Brentwood, TN. This role is crucial to revenue cycle operations and patient care, combining high-volume medical record management with core billing and clearinghouse tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Records Management: Process high-volume medical record requests efficiently while ensuring strict compliance with HIPAA guidelines and patient privacy laws.
  • Clearinghouse Monitoring: Actively monitor daily claim transmissions to catch, troubleshoot, and fix front-end rejections before they reach insurance payers.
  • Claim Scrubbing: Review and identify data errors (such as incorrect Member IDs or coding typos) to maintain a high "Clean Claim" submission rate.
  • Revenue Operations Support: Collaborate directly with clinical staff to retrieve required missing documentation to successfully overturn claim denials.
  • EMR Data Entry: Perform high-speed, high-accuracy indexing and data entry of clinical records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience handling medical records and revenue operations/billing in a healthcare environment.
  • System Knowledge: Prior experience navigating EMR systems and billing clearinghouses is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong data entry skills with an emphasis on speed and accuracy; exceptional attention to detail; ability to self-manage and prioritize dynamic workloads.
  • Communication: Clear, proactive communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal billing teams and clinical staff.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8-hour daily shift with a choice of a 30-minute or 60-minute unpaid lunch).
  • Flexible Start Times: Choose a consistent daily start time between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM (once selected, start times remain fixed).
  • Work Location: 100% in-office in Brentwood, TN during the initial contract period. Converts to a hybrid schedule (2-3 days remote per week) upon permanent hire.
