Job Responsibilities
The purpose of an adjunct mathematics instructor is to provide high-quality instruction to students enrolled in a College Algebra, Statistics & Probability, or Contemporary Mathematics course. The instructor is responsible for the following: Teaching and designing course content, assessing student learning outcomes, and providing feedback to students to ensure their success. Supporting the mission of the College by helping students achieve their academic goals and prepare them for future academic and professional pursuits. Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters open communication and constructive feedback. Collaborating with other faculty members to ensure that curriculum and instruction are aligned with program and college-level goals. Participating in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge of the field. Providing excellent instruction that supports the academic success of students and the goals of the department and the College.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Master's degree in Mathematics, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics. Proficiency in using a learning management system (e.g., D2L/Brightspace), effective communication skills, and the ability to engage students through various teaching methods. Must meet the College's credentialing requirements for faculty teaching in the Math department.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree with college-level teaching experience. Demonstrated success in engaging students through active learning techniques-ability to work with students with varying skill levels.
Additional Comments
The candidate must be available to teach on campus in a face-to-face setting during the evening hours of 6:00 pm - 7:20 pm and/or 7:30 pm - 8:50 pm on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays or both.
