Job Responsibilities
York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Math Supplemental Instruction Leader will perform the following functions:
  • Attend class meeting of selected course, take accurate notes in class, and understand all of the homework/reading assignments and projects.
  • Prepare and conduct weekly SI labs for students in the selected course.
  • Meet with course instructor weekly to discuss weekly labs.
  • Attend supplemental instruction trainings and meetings.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans for SI labs.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position are completion of college level math courses with exceptional outcomes or a college degree. Experience in tutoring or academic support strongly desired. Preferential consideration may be given to current York Technical College students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence in mathematics, determined by course grade and references.
  • General knowledge of course management and Microsoft application software.
  • Knowledge of Excel is required for MAT 120.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain concepts to others. Capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds. Ability to work flexible hours.
