The Dobbs Ferry School District has an anticipated vacancy for a temporary (leave replacement) Mathematics Teacher at the Dobbs Ferry Middle School, effective August 31, 2026 and through approximately January 31, 2027. Salary commensurate with experience and on par with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers current salary schedule. Range:$68,973 - $98,158 (Annual wage per contract: Dobbs Ferry United Teachers )
Description: As an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, we value inquiry-based instruction, critical thinking, and meaningful student discourse. The successful candidate will teach using the Illustrative Mathematics model, which emphasizes conceptual understanding and collaborative problem-solving. In our classrooms, students talk and write about mathematics, listen to and build on one another's ideas, justify their reasoning, and critique the reasoning of others to deepen their mathematical understanding.
Responsibilities include: Planning and delivering engaging Algebra I instruction aligned with the Illustrative Mathematics model and IB MYP framework; Facilitating discussion-rich classrooms that support mathematical reasoning and communication; Using formative assessment to guide instruction and support student learning; Collaborating with colleagues to analyze student work and improve instructional practice.
Requirements: NYSED certification Mathematics Grades 7-12 or Grades 5-9. The successful candidate has strong content knowledge and commitment to student-centered instruction; experience with inquiry-based teaching, familiarity with Illustrative Mathematics and/or IB MYP is preferred.
