Job description

Hera Lighting L.P. is a multi-million-dollar, growth-oriented industry leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality lighting systems for retail displays, cabinets, and furniture. Known for innovation and excellence, we provide end-to-end solid-state lighting configurations for top-tier global brands. We are seeking an exceptional, proactive engineer to join our staff in Norcross, GA.

As a Technical Support & Development Engineer, you will actively bridge the gap between complex engineering and real-world application. This role combines hands-on product testing, quality control, manufacturing coordination, and direct client support. You will receive immediate cross-training from a retiring senior engineer and work directly under the Engineering Manager to master our technology, vendor network, and operations, making this an unparalleled launchpad for an ambitious electrical engineer looking to build a lifelong management career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Solution Design: Answer incoming technical phone calls and emails from customers and internal staff. Diagnose complex deployment issues, troubleshoot low-voltage wiring configurations, and recommend optimal lighting solutions and product combinations.
  • Sales Engineering & CAD Interpretation: Interpret detailed 3D CAD drawings to generate clear Bills of Materials (BOM), create connection diagrams, design validation layouts, and author clear instruction manuals or user sheets to support development, sales and customer onboarding.
  • Product Testing & Lab Operations: Run daily operations in our darkroom and testing laboratory. Modify product and factory samples to fit specialized bench equipment, including integrating spheres, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and light meters.
  • Quality Control & Supply Chain Collaboration: Monitor all product lines to ensure the highest standards of durability and functionality. Coordinate with our overseas production facilities to refine samples, resolve component variations, and ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Compliance & Standards Certification: Assist with UL projects, interpreting safety certification standards, and verifying adherence to code requirements including UL 153, UL 1310, UL 8750, ISO/IEC 17025, and the National Electrical Code (NEC) for lighting and low-voltage applications.
  • Operational Agility: Provide hands-on assistance to the local production team during urgent or high-volume orders, manage multiple development projects simultaneously across varying stages, and systematically execute targeted technical tasks delegated by executive leadership.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET). Recent graduates with strong practical experience or project portfolios are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of practical experience in technical support, testing, or hardware engineering is preferred, but talent and drive carry greater weight.
  • Technical Core: Strong fundamental knowledge of electronic circuits, Solid-State Lighting (SSL) technology, and LED lighting manufacturing principles.
  • Lab Competence: Familiarity with electronic bench test equipment (oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMM), power meters, soldering stations).
  • Software & Systems: Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks is a strong plus) and MS Office tools. Comfort in Apple/Mac environments and peripherals is a plus.
  • Communication: Superb verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex, highly technical engineering concepts into simple, actionable sales and customer training documentation.
  • Operational Strengths: Outstanding problem-solving skills, rigorous attention to detail, and a self-starting capability to manage multiple moving projects independently.
  • Language/Tools: Willingness or ability to utilize messaging applications like WeChat to seamlessly communicate engineering and sample requirements to overseas factories.

Compensation & Benefits: We offer a highly competitive starting salary based on experience, a solid vacation and paid time off plan, comprehensive health and dental insurance, life insurance, SIMPLE IRA with company contributions, long-term disability insurance, etc.
