Position Summary
Job Duties / Key Accountabilities
  • Mount rolls on unwind machine.
  • Make sure there is adequate roll stock at the unwind to ensure a continuous operation.
  • Insure the unwind area is stocked with appropriate supplies for the next shift.
  • Make sure unwind and rewind splicers are always ready to make a splice.
  • Fill out View report correctly.
  • Fill out Paper Reject Form correctly.
  • At all times assist Second Press Operator with Register and ink (viscosity, pH and color as needed).
  • Clean and rebuild doctor blades or heads.
  • Use a paper calliper and check each roll for correct thickness.
  • Sweep and mop press area and empty trash daily.
  • Employ proper use of safety equipment.
  • Verify pools, agent samples and test rolls are labelled correctly.
  • Make sure there are cores and appropriate supplies are staged for the next shift at the rewind station.
  • Operate the rewind unit, pulling required product samples for press inspection, QA, and Security
  • Lab labelling samples with proper data.
  • Assist Pressmen with performing quality inspections of press samples, fanfolds, and perf quality.
  • Set up the RTM system and mark product on the RTM panel within the RTM office station.
  • Know how to use and operate the LVS system.
  • Perform Makeready duties of changing anilox cylinders, changing plate cylinders, changing ink chambers, setting up the unwind with correct paper and setting up the rewind with proper cores.
  • Maintaining 5s standard of Press area.
  • Train and mentor, the Press Ink Technician.
  • Train on the next level position on press to allow for temporary or permanent advancement.
  • Understand the Anilox specifications and care.
  • Perform any other job duties as assigned.

  • Requires effective decision making, problem solving and teamwork skills.
