Are you passionate about the energy sector and eager to start your career at a generating station? The Columbia Energy Center in Pardeeville, WI, is offering a fantastic opportunity for an Equipment Operator Fuels - Special Temp. This position is perfect for those looking to gain hands-on experience in the power industry.

As an Equipment Operator - Fuels you'll operate fuel-handling equipment and performs related coal yard and plant tasks at a steam generating stating.

You'll work a 10-hour schedule. Relief hours may be required for vacation coverage, vacancies, and service needs. The schedule is subject to change based on plant requirements.

What you will do:

Operates fuel and ash-handling equipment, such as conveyors, rotary car dump, stacker/ reclaimer, tractors,
bulldozers, cranes, barge tower, locomotives, crushers, ash trucks, shredding equipment, etc. At steam generating
stations: keeps equipment lubricated and takes care of minor maintenance needs. Cares for, purifies and centrifuges
the station oil supply and keeps bearings and equipment well lubricated.
Keeps the coal handling equipment neat, clean and operating properly.
Assures that all major and auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
Operates all ash and slag handling equipment.
Assists in maintaining railway tracks and fuel handling structures.
Spots and loads or unloads coal or ash cars or barges.
Assists in switching of railway cars and trucks.
Operates cranes, bulldozers and trucks for other than fuel-handling purposes when required.
Substitutes for lead equipment operator - Fuels as scheduled.
Performs maintenance work of ordinary nature when not operating.
Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
Performs other duties which are similar, related, and incidental to the position.

Supervision

Work performed under the supervision of the salaried or hourly supervisor, as assigned.

Required Experience

High School Diploma or GED

Experience and/or equivalent industrial experience in an electric generating facility

Preferred Experience

Power Plant Assistant

Other Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

General knowledge of mathematics and science math at the high school level
Demonstrated ability to operate fuel handling equipment.
Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment.
Ability to work with others
Mechanical ability
Knowledge of fuel-handling equipment and the layout and operation of the generating station to which assigned.
Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
