As a Venue IT Engineer II, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of technology environments across Opry Entertainment Group (OEG). You will focus on designing, supporting, and optimizing wired and wireless networks that enable ticketing, point-of-sale, mobile, and other mission-critical systems in support of live venue operations. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead advanced troubleshooting efforts, independently resolve complex issues, and serve as a technical escalation point. You will also provide technical leadership through documentation, standards development, and mentorship to improve operational consistency and maturity across venue technology platforms. Reports to Director of Information Technology.
  • Lead hands-on support and advanced troubleshooting of venue network infrastructure, with emphasis on Ubiquiti switching, wireless, and routing platforms.
  • Design, implement, and maintain network configurations supporting ticketing, POS, mobile devices, and other business-critical systems.
  • Independently diagnose complex network and system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective resolution strategies.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for Level I engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight.
  • Perform advanced wired and wireless diagnostics, including VLAN configuration, RF analysis, throughput optimization, and capacity assessment.
  • Proactively identify performance gaps, risks, and recurring issues; escalate with actionable recommendations.
  • Coordinate and delegate technical tasks during incidents, deployments, and live events to ensure timely resolution.
  • Test, validate, and document system and network changes in accordance with change management practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, runbooks, and network diagrams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide senior-level incident response during critical events and outages.
  • Support venue deployments, upgrades, and one-time projects in collaboration with internal teams and vendors.
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of technical standards, operational procedures, and repeatable support processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Experience

  • 3+ years' network engineering experience; Ubiquiti/UniFi strongly preferred
  • 2+ years supporting POS systems in operational or live event environments, Micros Simphony preferred
  • Experience supporting high-availability, multi-site, or event-driven environments
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, influence, or ownership of complex issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to apply structured troubleshooting methodologies and perform root-cause analysis
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, and maintainable technical documentation
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas and pivot tables

Licenses / Certifications
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required; will travel to venues as required for hardware and software implementations and support
