Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Heap Leach Supervisor, the Heap Leach Operator (levels I and II), and typically works a 4 day 10-hour schedule. The Operator builds, dismantles, connects piping and deploys drip emitter tubing, fuses HDPE pipes, adjusts solution flows and monitors the overall performance of the leach pad to ensure efficient operation and environmental compliance is achieved. Heap Leach Operator duties include but are not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains a safe attitude and looks out for others.
• Participates in and maintains good housekeeping in all areas including light vehicles and equipment.
• Performs daily pre and post op walk around inspections of work areas and light vehicles/equipment.
• Assists with piping of the heap leach pad in a safe and efficient manner. This includes pulling leach piping and emitter tubing.
• Fuels light vehicles and support equipment without spillage.
• Travels independently in light vehicles to and from the heap leach and lay down yards around mobile equipment in a safe manner.
• Conduct maintenance and inspection of the solution distribution and leach pad liner systems.
• Conduct solution application flow rate measurements.
• Performs job functions in accordance with company guidelines for safety and environmental compliance and general work practices and procedures.
• Conduct field level risk assessments as required by the Company and the department.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• 2 years of experience in leach operation, preferably in a mining environment, preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, required.
• Ability to effectively report all incidents and accidents to supervisor, required.
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including but not limited to footwear, high visibility clothing and eye and hearing protection, required.
• Can work safely with chemicals including lime and cyanide, required.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, required.
• Ability to walk over uneven ground for extended periods of time, required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds required
• Ability to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently with minimal supervision, required.
• Ability to communicate effectively, in English, using all standard forms of business communication. Communicates with coworkers and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner, required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the position, required.
• Willing to work weekends as scheduled, required.
