Job Title: PeopleSoft Admin/SR Data Base Administrator
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Director of Information Technology
Status: Full-Time, Benefit Eligible
Rate: $90,000 - $95,000 annually
Location: Lisle Campus
Position Summary:
Plans, architects, develops,implements, administers, and maintains systems and procedures for ensuring thesecurity, integrity, performance, availability, recoverability, and scalabilityof databases and applications supporting the University's business whilealigning with industry best practices and organizational strategic goals.
Ensures the implementation of robust system configurations and performscomprehensive maintenance activities, including patching, upgrading, andmigrating complex database (MS SQL Server) and ERP (PeopleSoft) systems toenhance security, ensure compliance, and take advantage of the latest softwareenhancements. Resolves complex technical issues with diligence and developsinnovative solutions to improve system performance, reliability, andfunctionality. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise andinterpersonal skills, working collaboratively with engineers across departmentsto support the effective administration of enterprise applications, ERPsystems, and databases.
Essential JobResponsibilities:
1. AdministerDatabases -
  • Manage the lifecycle of university databases (MS SQL Server), including installation, configuration, maintenance, and backup.
  • Resolve database problems, perform root cause analysis, and automate administration tasks.
  • Monitor integrity, security, utilization, and performance; maintain accurate documentation.

2. AdministerERP Systems -
  • Install, configure, and maintain core business systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
  • Monitor performance, conduct tuning, and resolve system problems, including root cause analysis.
  • Maintain system integrity and security, manage access logs, and implement encryption/auditing tools.
  • Identify and apply new releases, upgrades, and patches.
  • Manage PUM images, apply maintenance packs, PRPs, and Tools patches.
  • Administer Application Servers (PSAPPSRV), Process Schedulers, Web Servers, and Integration Broker.

3. Design andImplement Infrastructure Enhancements -
  • Lead or participate in projects to implement and test ERP and database infrastructure.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate activities, and ensure comprehensive documentation.
  • Perform production migrations with minimal disruption, adhering to change control.
  • Develop database and application contingency and disaster recovery plans.

4. ProvideExpert Technical Support -
  • Act as top-tier support for critical escalated security and system issues.
  • Process assigned servicetickets and perform expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Serve as a technicalliaison and participate in security design and third-party integrations

5. PerformDay-to-Day Security Activities -
  • Provision and de-provision ERP accounts, managing all aspects of security (roles, row-level access).
  • Analyze and resolve security problems and audit security across all environments.
  • Maintain security structures, migrate security across databases, and support internal/external IT security auditors.

6. PerformOther Administrative Duties -
  • Execute assignments, provide status reports, and create/present briefings.
  • Manage staff consisting mainly of business analysts.
  • Cross-train staff and participate in relevant group and project meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

5.) Technology awareness: knowledge of developments and new applications of computing infrastructure technologies to the university's technical infrastructure.
6.) Teamwork skills: ability to work effectively in teams, both as a member and leader. Provide direct leadership to enterprise applications team.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience:
  • At least 4 years' experience as PeopleSoft applications administrator.
  • At least 2 years' experience administering databases (MS SQL Server) in support of a multi-tiered ERP environment.
  • Experience writing SQL queries, generating reports and writing scripts to automate processes.
  • Experience handling annual IT security audits.

Specific Skills:
  • IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices. Information security principles and methods.

  • Relational database principles, methods, and practices.
  • Database backup, recovery and high availability principles, methods, and practices.
  • ERP principles, methods, and practices.

  • Principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.
  • Knowledge of, and materially demonstrable experience implementing and configuring, the following technologies: Oracle Fusion Middleware, Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later.
  • PeopleSoft Internet Architecture and People Tools.
  • Database and ERP monitoring/management tools.
  • Strong Understanding of WebLogic, Tuxedo, PSADMIN, PeopleSoft Security & Integration Broker, Elasticsearch / OpenSearch, Change Assistant, DPK, and PeopleSoft Update Manager.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Use of computer screen. Working Conditions: This position is expected to be performedon-site, in the office, Monday through Friday during normal business hours withoccasional evening or weekend hours for critical events, system updates, orincident response.
