Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Software Developer 2 - Java/Spring Developer opportunity in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Location: Hybrid
Group/Organization: LDRD
Schedule: 9/80 or 5-8s
The Software Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain secure, high-quality software applications in a fast-paced, Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java and the Spring Framework, along with experience working with Angular and MySQL.
Key responsibilities include:
โ€ข Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure software applications using Java and the Spring Framework.
โ€ข Develop and maintain modern web application interfaces using Angular.
โ€ข Design, query, and optimize MySQL databases and related data structures.
โ€ข Apply test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing practices to deliver reliable, maintainable software.
โ€ข Participate in an Agile software development environment, including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
โ€ข Manage development activities across multiple applications and projects while meeting established priorities and deadlines.
โ€ข Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders on solution design.
โ€ข Contribute to application architecture and process improvements.
โ€ข Work independently and provide technical guidance as needed.
โ€ข Independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues, determine solution approaches, and provide technical guidance as needed.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, database, and performance issues.
Required Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
โ€ข Strong professional software development experience using Java.
โ€ข Strong experience with the Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience developing and supporting enterprise-level applications.
โ€ข Experience with test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, and automated testing methodologies.
โ€ข Experience working within Agile development teams.
โ€ข Ability to work effectively while adhering to stringent security requirements and development standards
Desired Qualifications:
โ€ข Experience developing front-end applications using Angular.
โ€ข Strong working knowledge of MySQL and relational database concepts.
โ€ข Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
โ€ข Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
โ€ข Active DOE Q Security Clearance.
