Job description

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for coordinating transportation, inventory flow, and supply chain operations to ensure products move efficiently from suppliers through final delivery to customers. This position supports domestic and international logistics while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and maintain high levels of customer service.

This role works closely with carriers, warehouses, vendors, and internal departments to ensure the successful execution of daily supply chain activities.

Primary Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics

  • Coordinate Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), parcel, ocean, and drayage shipments.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure timely pickup, transit, and delivery.
  • Resolve transportation issues by working directly with carriers and logistics partners.
  • Track shipment exceptions and coordinate corrective actions.

Freight Management

  • Audit freight invoices for accuracy prior to payment.
  • Review freight charges and investigate billing discrepancies.
  • Assist in identifying transportation cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support carrier performance monitoring and reporting.

Inventory & Supply Chain

  • Assist with inventory balancing across warehouse locations.
  • Monitor inventory movement and identify opportunities to improve inventory availability.
  • Work with internal departments to ensure product availability and efficient replenishment.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives.

Vendor & Carrier Relations

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with transportation providers and supply chain partners.
  • Communicate with carriers, warehouses, and vendors regarding shipment status, scheduling, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in evaluating carrier performance and service levels.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics and supply chain processes.
  • Recommend operational improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Assist with implementation of new logistics processes and procedures.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate shipment and inventory records.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and transportation requirements.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer support.
  • Perform other supply chain-related duties as assigned.

Success in This Role

A successful Supply Chain Specialist will:

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Take ownership of transportation and inventory issues through resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, warehouses, and internal teams.
  • Proactively identify problems before they impact customers.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen the supply chain.
