Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Admissions Counselor provides comprehensive, one-on-one, admissions and enrollment services to applicants to the College using results from placement, assessment, and career interest testing. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with prospective and current students. Relationships will be cultivated through all communication media (walk-ins, phone, email, chat, tours and recruitment events) with prospects, applicants and newly admitted students; working with prospective students to assist in selecting the program of study that best fits their educational needs and professional goals. Participates in special campus events. Plans and delivers presentations to prospective students, parents, community leaders, etc. Conducts campus tours. Represents Midlands Technical College to prospective students, school counselors, and community stakeholders when they visit the campus, call or write the Admissions Office. May travel and represent MTC in recruiting and instructional programs; disseminate MTC admissions materials, supplies and information; handle speaking engagements. Advises prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the College. Interviews, evaluates credentials, advises those ineligible and recruits those qualified. Provides individual and group college and career skills counseling/advisement. Monitors groups of applicants, providing personal contact and attempting to retain them as enrolling students. Attends planning sessions and meetings with admissions staff, faculty, and student groups. Participates in a wide variety of admissions activities designed to achieve institutional enrollment goals (i.e. tele-counseling, special campus events, multicultural outreach, and data analysis). Develops reports and assists in the assessment of projects. Maintains accurate and confidential records of every student interaction including in-person visits, phone consultations, and online coaching. Stays abreast of current issues and trends related to college students' enrollments, academic successes and retention. Carries out other miscellaneous office duties as needed.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree with at least one (1) year of admissions advising and outreach experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience related to the development and dissemination of information material material is preferred.
