Job description

Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Line Inspector (Transmission/Substation) in Omaha, NE. This is a full-time contract Field Based assignment with our client (with possibility to extend). This position offers a competitive compensation package including benefits, vacation, and paid holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a Line Inspector As a Line Inspector, you will play a critical role in overseeing high voltage transmission and substation construction projects from start to finish. You will be responsible for ensuring quality workmanship, compliance with specifications, and safety standards across multiple job sites. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive power delivery experience who can immediately impact project execution and provide expert oversight of complex electrical infrastructure installations.

As a Line Inspector YOU will: Conduct daily inspections of transmission and substation construction sites to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards Oversee installation of steel structures, insulators, switches, and mounting equipment for switch operations Monitor and verify proper compaction techniques and soil conditions throughout construction phases Inspect concrete work including slump testing, air testing, and quality verification Recognize and assess various soil types and their suitability for construction applications Ensure proper installation and assembly of high voltage equipment and components Verify that all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards Identify potential safety hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented Provide daily or weekly progress reports to project managers Document inspection findings, quality issues, and corrective actions Prepare detailed reports using Microsoft Office Suite Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project teams to resolve construction issues Participate in regular project meetings with management Provide technical guidance and recommendations to ensure successful project completion YOU are the ideal Line Inspector candidate if you have: 10+ years of experience in power delivery field and high voltage transmission/substation construction (required) Strong construction background with hands-on knowledge of transmission and substation projects Extensive knowledge of compaction techniques and soil types used in utility construction Proven experience with concrete testing procedures including slump testing and air testing In-depth understanding of steel structure installation and inspection requirements Familiarity with insulators, switches, and mounting equipment used in substation operations Ability to immediately impact job sites and provide expert oversight Experience managing projects from beginning to end Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with project teams and contractors Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions It's a BONUS if you have: OSHA 10 certification OSHA 30 certification Experience with specific transmission voltage levels (69kV, 138kV, 230kV, 500kV, etc.) Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, etc.) About Our CLIENT Our client is an engineering consulting firm with over a century of success in the Water Market.
