INPO Accredited - JOURNEYMAN I&C TECHNICIAN

Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation -Burlington, KS

POSITION SUMMARY
TheJourneyman I&C Technician will provide leadership, experience, knowledgeand skill to perform maintenance, calibrations, modifications and testing onplant systems and equipment.  Technicianshave the knowledge and skill to use various test equipment to perform maintenance.  Technicians provide feedback on procedurecorrections, work instruction, walk downs, job preparation and execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance ofI&C activities including troubleshooting, surveillance, calibration,repairs, reworks, removal/installation, and preventative maintenance throughoutthe plant.  As progress is made throughthe training program, participants will assist in "moderatelycomplex" I&C tasks as assigned requiring application of knowledge andskills.  Ensure components and equipmentwithin system are maintained and operate efficiently.  All activities will be in accordance withplant procedures and accomplished in a safe and effective manner.

Perform certainaspects in development, preparation, department interface, performance, anddocumentation of assigned activities.

Brief, lead, andcoordinate work crews to complete work in a safe and efficient manner.

Train and developpersonnel in technical knowledge and skills, in accordance with stationpolicies and procedures.

Assist in performingadministrative duties, including M&TE evaluations, budget input,self-assessments, procedure development, work orders, correction andvalidation.

Provide walkdowns,peer evaluations, and job critiques.

Read and understandsystem prints, schematics, logic diagrams, binary numbering, procedures andvendor manuals.

Identify andpromptly report incidents, events, deviations, deficiencies or discrepanciesrelating to plant conditions, Technical Specifications, licenses, permits, orquality programs.

Upon qualification,perform related tasks such as E-plan, job critiques, fire watch, confinedspace, requisitions, walk downs, and peer evaluations.

Perform other duties asassigned by supervision/management.

REQUIREMENTS
RegulatoryRequirements:

RegulatoryRequirement: Tech Spec 5.3.1 [ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978] (underlined words are defined in referenced ANSI standard).  Please contact Licensing prior to deviatingfrom these requirements or if you have questions.

The individualsfulfilling the function of journeyman level Instrumentation & ControlsTechnicians shall have three years working experience in thefield of instrumentation and controls, of which one year should be relatedtechnical training.

Additional WCNOCRequirements:

This position requiresa high school diploma or GED equivalent and five years relevant experience (oneyear of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls) or an Associatedegree in a relevant technical field and four years relevant experience (oneyear of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls) or a Bachelor'sdegree in a relevant technical field and three years relevant experience (oneyear of which shall be in nuclear instrumentation and controls).

Relevant experienceis defined as analog and digital process controls and measurements.

Relevant technicalfield is Instrumentation, which includes electrical, electronics and processcontrols.

 

ADDITIONALINFORMATION
Thisposition requires the successful completion of the MASS test.  (NOTE: This is inapplicable to incumbent Journeyman and Masters in thepositions on or before 9/16/2005.)

Management has theright to require this position to pass and maintain respirator fit andqualification when necessary.  This isnot an essential function of every technician position, but management retainsits rights to ensure adequate numbers of respirator-qualified personnel to meetstation requirements.

This positionrequires a satisfactory work record including good attendance.

Note: This is a bargaining unit position.
