Human Resources Administrator Senior (Temp)

To administer human resources related programs and projects for faculty, staff and trainees within an assigned college/school/department/division/center/institute in coordination with the Office of Human Resources. To serve as the liaison to the Office of Human Resources and/or the Dean's office for most human resources related matters. To coordinate departmental human resources actions and ensure proper processing of paperwork. May represent the college/school/department/division/center/institute leadership in working groups and committees at UAB HR and/or UAB Medicine.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handles the day-to-day administration of human resources processes and procedures for UAB faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, students, contract employees, visiting scientists, and international faculty/staff/scholars in the functional areas such as employment, staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and issues related to federal and state regulations and laws such as ADA, FLSA and EEOC.
  • Assists chair and department promotion and tenure committee during the Faculty Promotion and Tenure process.
  • Collects human resources data and makes recommendations to appropriate management. Compiles information and prepares reports, letters and job related documentation of a confidential nature.
  • Coordinates departmental human resource actions and ensures proper process of paperwork.
  • Advises, provides information, trains others and responds to questions regarding human resources policies. Identifies potential program, policy or relations issues and confers with appropriate HR resources.
  • Ensures compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Currently certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) preferred.
