Position Summary
Position Summary:The Residential Construction Technician is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Residential Construction Technology (RCT) program through maintaining and preparing class and lab materials, as well as assisting with all phases of the RCT program house building project.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:
Assists the RCT instructor with all phases of a residential house building project, to include framing, siding, roofing, concrete finishing, painting, drywall and drywall finishing, interior trim work, and other related tasks
Assists instructor with ensuring all construction tools used in the RCT program are in working order
Assists in maintaining the job site, ensuring site is clean and safety guidelines are followed
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years of building construction or related experience
Related certifications such as OSHA 30 a plus
Preference may be given to individuals with a college degree or certificate in a construction related discipline.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of and ability to perform construction framing, siding and roofing tasks
Knowledge of and ability to perform concrete finish work
Knowledge of and ability to perform interior and exterior painting
Knowledge of and ability to perform drywall/drywall finishing and interior trim work
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment:Work is primarily performed in a classroom or laboratory setting under limited supervision. Incumbents may be exposed to electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards.
Physical Requirements:Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, ability to communicate, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching and handling with varying frequencies.
Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important
