A Staff Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and the Home Care Therapy Manager to deliver patient care across various settings. The PTA follows the established plan of care to help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. This role requires knowledge of age-specific care, growth, and development, and involves participation in patient education, documentation, and interdisciplinary meetings. The PTA also contributes to cost-effective practices through supply management and recommendations for process improvement. Required to be flexible with daily scheduling and may be required to work various patient care settings.
What you will do
  • Follows Plan of care and performs PTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
  • Participates in facility meetings, departmental meetings, in-services, educational programs, and other meetings to include solutions and engagement with resolution processes.
  • Employee's individual productivity measures are satisfactory based on FTE/status and average number of assigned patients in case load.
  • Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
  • Completes documentation that supports skilled intervention and adherence to plan of care. Completes documentation per department policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associates Degree, Physical Therapy Assistant (Required) and
  • Program Graduate, Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) (Required)

Experience
  • 1 year Healthcare experience (Required)

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age, goal, and diagnosis appropriate care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, be able to assess patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data, and be able to interpret information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly per patient care setting.

Licenses and Certifications
  • License Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required
