Temporary Design Project Manager

As a temporary design project manager with SCAD Art Sales, the university's full-service art consultancy, you'll collaborate creatively with in-house teams to complete large-scale installations and other special projects across the university. You'll work closely with the executive director of creative ideation and design to plan, organize, and implement art and interior styling, including sourcing furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, antiques, accessories, and other materials.

SCAD Art Sales offers elite representation to a global clientele, articulating their aesthetic and conceptualizing their spaces. Here, you'll select work from an ever-growing roster of more than 45,000 artists and designers to provide clients with curated services that produce personalized environments that exceed expectations and transform any space, indoor and out. As part of this department, you'll join a supportive team of creative, energetic, detail-oriented, and organized individuals. Ideally, you have experience sourcing materials such as furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, decor, or artwork.

As a temporary design project manager, you will:
Support the executive director of creative ideation and design with planning and completing art installations, interior styling projects, and special design initiatives
Assist the executive director with site visits to assess spaces, take photographs and measurements, and compile information into working project documents
Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and project documentation to track artwork, decor, and material orders for large installations
Coordinate project timelines and maintain calendars to ensure projects progress efficiently across multiple locations
Organize and maintain project binders and documentation so that all project information is accurate and accessible

As a project manager, you must effectively:
Style spaces by arranging furnishings, artwork, and decor to create layered and cohesive environments
Manage artist purchase, commission, and licensing agreements
Coordinate with artists to obtain high-resolution images for approved photography projects and prepare files for production
Coordinate frame selections and production timelines
Coordinate custom wallpaper projects by securing artwork permissions, working with vendors to produce wallpaper, and scheduling installations

To support SCAD Art Sales' mission of providing personalized services that extend to the finishing touches of every design, you will:
Create and distribute project punch lists and submit work orders for assigned projects
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the executive director and relevant departments
Collaborate with various internal and warehouse teams to ensure project needs are met
Liaise with warehouse staff to confirm deliveries, track project materials, and communicate timely updates on payments to artists as requested
Supervise tradespeople and contractors during installations, conduct site inspections, and follow up on quality control

Additionally, you will:
Research and curate visual inspiration, trends, and ideas to support the design and styling process
Maintain an organized inventory of decor items, materials, and supplies used for projects
Assist with the setup and styling of decor for events, installations, or shoots
Support communication between departments to ensure projects progress smoothly from concept to installation
Submit all purchase requisitions for the permanent collection, shopSCAD, and SCAD Art Sales

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in interior design, art, or a related discipline
At least three years of experience in project management or coordination within the creative or arts sectors and with sourcing and styling
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for project tracking and documentation
Proficient in project management software and standard office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Workspace)
Ability to work flexible hours when required for installations, events, or project deadlines

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
Valid driver's license
Access to a car

Travel required:
Less than 10%


Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
