With its broad and multidisciplinary faculty expertise, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) is an international resource that supports basic and clinical research in environmental health sciences and exposure assessment and fosters associated programs in environmental health education and public policy.
Established in 1986, EOHSI's major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ. The Rutgers CARE Lab is seeking a highly motivated Temporary Research Assistant to support a project focused on the development of speech-based biomarkers for the quantification of cognitive decline. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of the digital health, neuroscience, and environmental exposure science. This position is ideal for candidates interested in gaining research experience in preparation for graduate or medical school, or for those with a passion for applying data science to real-world health challenges. Some local travel will be required.
Duties include:
  • Complete University-required training for Human Subjects research and appropriate lab safety training.
  • Assist in the development and validation of models that analyze speech data to detect signs of cognitive impairment.
  • Work with existing speech datasets, including those from individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias.
  • Apply statistical, computational, and/or machine learning techniques to predict clinically validatedcognitive metrics (e.g., MMSE scores).
