We are currently seeking a Energy Systems Technician for an assigned project with a client in the automotive industry. The role is based in Novi, MI or Charlotte NC and requires onsite presence and 20% domestics travel. PURPOSE: 
We are seeking an Energy Systems Technician to support the development, wiring, and instrumentation of Energy Systems test environments and vehicle applications. This role is hands-on and focused on enabling accurate testing and validation of Thermal, Climate, Energy Management, 12V systems, and HV Battery (BMS) systems through reliable hardware setup and instrumentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain detailed wiring schematics for bench setups, including HV battery, charging, and thermal systems.
  • Build, modify, and troubleshoot wiring harnesses for both bench and vehicle applications.
  • Support engineering teams in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical and hardware-related issues.
  • Manage inventory of bench equipment and instrumentation components, including connectors, wiring, tools, and related materials.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop vehicle instrumentation plans for testing and validation activities.
  • Install, configure, and verify instrumentation systems on vehicles and test benches to ensure accurate data acquisition.
  • Ensure proper documentation of wiring layouts, harness configurations, and instrumentation setups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Experience in automotive, EV/HEV, or test bench environments preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Hands-on experience with automotive wiring, harness construction, and electrical schematics
  • Basic understanding of:
    • 12V electrical systems
    • High-voltage (HV) systems fundamentals
    • Test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and wiring plans
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in hardware environments
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams
  • supporting prototype builds and vehicle testing programs
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Volkswagen
  • Experience with EV/HEV systems and HV safety procedures
  • Familiarity with test bench setups and vehicle validation environments
  • Experience with CAN-based systems and basic diagnostics tools
  • Knowledge of sensors and instrumentation (e.g., thermocouples, pressure sensors, DAQ systems)
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and vehicle testing program)
  • Willingness to travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Novi, MI or Charlotte NC
  • Schedule: Full Time/ 40 hours per week
  • Travel: 20% domestics travel
  • Overtime: as required
  • Assignment Start: June 2026 – December 2030
  • Duration: up to 4.5 years
