CFD Research is seeking a Software Developer to join a multidisciplinary team building cutting-edge tools to analyze, reduce, and visualize complex simulation data for missile defense systems. This role focuses on streamlining Post-Test Analysis (PTA) processes by conducting trade studies, building automated test scripts, and executing Agile software delivery. Working alongside the customerโ€™s software development team, you will accelerate test-case generation, ensure data validation accuracy for formal test events, and optimize system resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct trade studies to evaluate potential PTA tools and present findings to leadership; collaborate with SMEs to understand Concept of Operations (CONOPs), test procedures, and data/message parameters.
  • Maintain and prioritize feature backlogs in Jira alongside the GSD team; write, test, and deploy code within PTA tools to perform automated test-step validation.
  • Streamline input generation to boost the speed and efficiency of building complex test cases.
  • Conduct progress demos of working test scripts, submit deliverables for peer review, and author user guides on analysis best practices.
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must possess and maintain an active DoD SECRET Clearance
  • Bachelorโ€™s in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Statistics, Physics, or related STEM Discipline with 2+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proficient programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and C++ with desire and ability to pick up others
  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Ability to perform trade studies, present technical recommendations, and lead bi-monthly feature demos for external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical experience working within Agile frameworks (e.g., Jira) and developing software tools for data validation, script automation, or requirements verification
  • Experience working with missile defense simulation/test architectures
  • Experience with Docker containerization and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with Python data science stacks (pandas, scipy, scikit-learn) and interactive visualization frameworks (Matplotlib, Plotly, Dash) for high-dimensional data reduction, modeling, and automated reporting

Location: This role is based in the Huntsville, ALarea, and is 100% onsite.
