Certified Medical Assistant

Job Description

This opportunity is for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join a women's health clinic associated with a hospital. The role involves managing a patient volume of approximately 120-150 patients monthly, with the number varying as you become familiar with different providers within the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers by rooming patients, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs and symptoms, taking weight and temperature, and completing medical history documentation, which will occupy 30% of your time.
  • Set up and assist providers with miscellaneous tasks and tests such as urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy tests, as directed by the provider, accounting for 25% of your time.
  • Schedule tests, radiology exams, and appointments with specialists as requested, and enter all check-in/check-out information in the EMR, perform prior authorizations, and notify the office referral specialist when insurance referral is required, consuming approximately 10% of your time.
  • Assist providers with office exams, collect height, weight, BMI, and other pertinent information, and update immunization records.
  • Perform phone triage, including handling patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs, as well as manage faxes, calls, and prescription refills as directed.
  • Perform walk-in patient duties as needed, which may include triage, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, and collecting history and other information from patients to relay to the provider.
  • Function as a resource to visitors, providers, and staff by greeting everyone promptly and courteously and continuously supporting the organization's mission and values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider, and/or the VP of Physician Practices.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

  • Successful completion of and graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Upbeat, positive, and outgoing attitude
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience as a CMA
  • Preferred: Experience in family practice or women's health
  • Preferred: Experience with POC testing and EMR systems

Work Environment

This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 8am to 5pm with no weekend work and holidays off. The work environment is temperature-controlled with easy access to parking. You will work closely with a team of two providers and another Medical Assistant, managing approximately 130 patients daily. The schedule includes walk-ins from 8am to 8:50am, appointments from 9am to 11:30am and 1pm to 4:30pm, with a lunch break. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.22 - $23.00/hr.
