Job description
The Retoucher is responsible for creating accurate, high-quality product imagery across Trove Brands, with a primary focus on PDP imagery for Owala. This role ensures product colors, materials, textures, finishes, and details are represented consistently and true to the physical product, with color accuracy as the highest priority. Working closely with photographers and the Retouching team, this position will own PDP post-production while supporting an efficient, high-quality studio workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Retouch high-volume PDP and e-commerce product imagery across Trove Brands.
- Match final images closely to physical product samples and approved color references.
- Maintain consistent color across different angles, products, materials, colorways, and image sets.
- Correct color balance, exposure, contrast, reflections, shadows, texture, and material appearance while preserving a natural and accurate result.
- Remove dust, scratches, production imperfections, unwanted reflections, and other temporary defects without misrepresenting the product.
- Complete detailed masking, clipping paths, compositing, alignment, cropping, background preparation, and image cleanup.
- Work within a color-managed workflow using calibrated monitors, approved color profiles, and established output standards.
- Prepare and export final files according to required dimensions, naming conventions, color spaces, and delivery specifications.
- Complete detailed quality-control reviews before assets are submitted for approval or delivery.
- Maintain consistency across large groups of images and multiple product launches.
- Partner with photographers to identify capture improvements that can reduce unnecessary post-production.
- Help document and improve PDP retouching, color-management, and quality-control standards.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Support additional campaign, lifestyle, or product-retouching needs when PDP priorities allow.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 3 or more years of professional retouching, photo-editing, or commercial post-production experience.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating product or e-commerce retouching, including before-and-after examples.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong working knowledge of color correction, color spaces, ICC profiles, monitor calibration, and color-managed workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to match digital imagery accurately to physical products or approved references.
- Experience retouching challenging materials such as plastics, metals, translucent materials, soft goods, gloss finishes, matte finishes, and textured surfaces.
- Strong masking, compositing, cleanup, and non-destructive editing skills.
- Ability to identify subtle differences in hue, saturation, brightness, material appearance, and finish.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency across high volumes of images.
- Ability to balance quality, speed, and production deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to receive feedback and apply it consistently across future work.
- Ability to work on-site and evaluate images alongside physical product samples.
- Ensure accurate, consistent representation of product colors, materials, and details across PDP imagery, reducing revisions, rework, and reshoots
- Deliver high-quality PDP assets on time while establishing efficient retouching standards that improve approval rates, photographer capacity, and overall studio output.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with consumer products or established e-commerce brands.
- Experience with Capture One or similar professional photography software.
- Experience building Photoshop actions, templates, scripts, or other workflow efficiencies.
- Familiarity with digital asset management and structured file-delivery systems.
- Experience partnering directly with studio photographers and production teams.
- Understanding of both digital and print color-output requirements.
