Job Description:

What It Means to Be a Consultant at Crowe
Consulting is a dynamic business focused on solving problems for our clients and serving our core markets through innovative solutions. As technology and AI continue to reshape the consulting landscape, we are looking for individuals who are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn. At Crowe, consultants are expected to build both technical and transferable skills, think critically, and use technology to solve real business problems. In this role, you will continuously learn, collaborate across teams, and explore how tools, including emerging AI capabilities, can improve efficiency, insights, and client outcomes.

In management at Crowe, you play a pivotal role in leading teams, guiding project execution, and deepening client relationships. You are expected to contribute to account planning, identify opportunities to add value, and ensure high-quality delivery. As your responsibilities expand, you take on broader account ownership, balancing project leadership with growing involvement in client strategy and solution development.

Success in this role comes from a growth mindset, strong communication skills, advanced critical thinking, and the ability to navigate new challenges with confidence

Crowe is seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Architect specializing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Applications.

This is a client-facing, individual-contributor role for an architect who remains close to technology and is comfortable working directly within Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, and the associated development and application lifecycle management toolsets.

The Senior Technical Architect will design solutions while also helping delivery teams implement them. The successful candidate will be expected to configure environments, develop prototypes, review code, troubleshoot technical issues, establish integration patterns, support DevOps pipelines, and validate those architectural decisions work in practice.

This position is well suited for a technically driven professional who is progressing toward broader architecture leadership while continuing to build and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

Hands-On Architecture and Engineering

  • Design solutions across Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure.

  • Define application, integration, data, security, and environment architecture.

  • Select appropriate integration patterns, including OData, REST APIs, Dataverse, dual-write, DMF, batch, and event-driven messaging.

  • Design integrations using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, and related Azure services.

  • Review X++, extensions, data entities, Power Platform components, APIs, and integration implementations.

  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate technical decisions.

  • Troubleshoot application, integration, deployment, security, and performance issues.

Delivery Leadership

  • Serve as the technical lead from discovery through implementation, go-live, and hypercare.

  • Establish environments, source control, branching, deployment pipelines, solution layering, telemetry, and engineering standards.

  • Translate architecture into actionable work for developers and consultants.

  • Provide estimates and identify technical risks, dependencies, and assumptions.

  • Conduct design, code, configuration, and deployment reviews.

  • Partner with clients, functional architects, project managers, Microsoft, and delivery teams.

Engineering Quality and Application Lifecycle Management

  • Define and enforce engineering standards for Dynamics 365 extensions, Power Platform solutions, Azure components, integrations, and automated deployments.

  • Implement and improve application lifecycle management using Azure DevOps or GitHub, source control, automated pipelines, managed solutions, environment variables, connection references, and deployment validation.

  • Promote automated testing, telemetry, logging, monitoring, and repeatable deployment practices.

  • Establish extension and customization standards that minimize unsupported modifications and improve maintainability.

  • Ensure solutions comply with security, data governance, environment management, and operational support requirements.

Copilot, Automation, and AI Enablement

  • Design secure, governed data and integration foundations for Copilot and AI-enabled use cases.

  • Evaluate and implement automation using Power Platform, Copilot Studio, and Azure services.

  • Help clients adopt AI capabilities with appropriate security, compliance, monitoring, and human oversight.

Client Advisory and Pre-Sales Support

  • Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture workshops, demonstrations, and technical deep dives.

  • Contribute to proposals, statements of work, estimates, and delivery plans.

  • Explain technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly to technical and business stakeholders.

  • Create reusable reference architectures, accelerators, and implementation patterns.

  • Mentor developers and consultants through technical reviews and coaching.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of professional experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise business applications on Microsoft technologies.

  • At least four years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Dynamics AX, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, Dataverse, or related Dynamics 365 Business Applications.

  • Experience delivering at least two full-cycle Dynamics 365 implementations in a technical lead, development lead, or solution architecture capacity.

  • Recent hands-on implementation experience with Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure integration services, or related engineering toolsets.

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly in project environments rather than operating exclusively in an advisory, governance, or management capacity.

  • Strong knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations extensibility, including X++, extensions, data entities, Data Management Framework, batch processing, security, environment management, and Lifecycle Services.

  • Ability to review X++ implementations and provide detailed guidance on extensibility, performance, security, maintainability, and Microsoft-recommended development patterns.

  • Hands-on experience with Power Platform, including model-driven applications, canvas applications, Power Automate, Dataverse, solution management, environment variables, connection references, and application lifecycle management.

  • Experience implementing integrations using REST, OData, custom services, webhooks, events, files, ETL, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric.

  • Experience designing authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, application registrations, OAuth, role-based access control, and least-privilege principles.

  • Experience implementing source control, branching, build pipelines, release pipelines, automated deployment, code review, and testing practices.

  • Ability to define and validate non-functional requirements for performance, reliability, resiliency, security, monitoring, and supportability.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills across applications, integrations, data, environments, deployments, and cloud services.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to clients and delivery teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Microsoft certifications such as:

    • Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert

    • Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate

    • Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate

    • Power Platform Solution Architect Expert

    • Power Platform Developer Associate

    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert

    • Azure Developer Associate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce, Project Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, or Customer Insights.

  • Experience with Dataverse integration, dual-write, virtual entities, business events, finance and operations apps integration, and cross-application security models.

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, financial services, healthcare, or professional services.

  • Familiarity with Copilot Studio, AI Builder, generative AI orchestration, plug-ins, connectors, agents, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake Storage, Power BI, Synapse-compatible architectures, and enterprise data integration.

  • Experience creating reusable development frameworks, accelerators, reference implementations, or automated deployment utilities.

Role Expectations

This is not a purely strategic, governance, or people-management position. The Senior Technical Architect is expected to remain actively involved in technical delivery.

Depending on project needs, hands-on responsibilities may include:

  • Building and validating prototypes.

  • Reviewing or troubleshooting X++ and other implementation code.

  • Configuring Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Platform, and Azure components.

  • Designing and testing APIs and integration flows.

  • Establishing development and deployment pipelines.

  • Investigating production and performance issues.

  • Reviewing security configurations and application roles.

  • Supporting developers through implementation challenges.

  • Participating directly in critical deployments and go-live activities.

Success in this role requires a builder mindset, strong technical curiosity, delivery ownership, and commitment to continuous learning as the Microsoft Business Applications platform evolves.

We expect the candidate to uphold Crowe's values of Care, Trust, Courage, and Stewardship. These values define who we are. We expect all of our people to act ethically and with integrity at all times.
