Job description

Golf Course Attendant (Pro Shop, Cart/Range, Starter/Ranger)

CITY OF FARMINGTON

JOB POSTING #43: GOLF COURSE ATTENDANT (PRO SHOP, CART/RANGE, STARTER/RANGER)

NUMBER OF VACANCIES: 6

WORK LOCATION: City of Farmington Golf Courses

PAY CLASS: Temporary

HIRING RANGE: $12.00 per hour

Job Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

PRO SHOP:

Collects green fees, sells golf supplies and concessions, and starts players on the golf course (when starter not on duty.)

Acquaints new golfers with course rules and regulations.

Sells season passes and assists in keeping records of such.

Cleans pro shop and restrooms on a daily basis and as needed.

Monitors inventory levels; assists professional staff with sales; helps with inventory count.

Promotes positive customer service practices on the phone and in person with golfers and customers.

CART/RANGE:

Under the direction of the Golf Professional and other Pro Shop staff, will attend to the golf cart fleet and driving range.

Responsible for placing water jugs on course, keeping them filled, and cups supplied as needed.

Responsible for staging carts which includes bringing carts from the cart barn in the morning, cleaning and checking carts after each use and returning carts to cart barn at the end of the day.

Ensures that carts are available for player use at all times.

Ensures that practice range is open and ready for players in the mornings and will pick, clean and fill dispenser with range balls throughout the day.

Ensures the clubhouse and practice range areas are kept orderly and clean, including restrooms and trash receptacles.

STARTER/RANGER:

Patrols golf course property for the purpose of directing players in the proper pace of play and the proper observance of course rules and regulations. (when ranger)

Announces starting times from starter building; greet golfers and go over daily notices/rules of the day pertaining to their round (when starter)

Enforces established rules of course among golfers such as replacing divots, wearing of proper clothing, etc.

Takes measures to expedite play as necessary.

Promotes positive customer service relations.

ALL POSITIONS:

Enforces established policies, rules and regulations of course

Responsible for cleaning and stocking restrooms as needed throughout the day.

Attendance at work is an essential function of this position

Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.

Assists in bringing golf carts to pro shop in the mornings and return to storage at the end of the day or as needed during working hours.

Assist in tournament operations (staging golf carts, putting out sponsor signs, post-event cleanup, etc.)

Receives and responds to complaints from golfers.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Relieve other personnel at the golf course when necessary.

Qualifications

This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency.

Ability to work harmoniously with patrons and fellow employees.

Good oral and written communications skills.

Must be able to count change.

Ability to maintain records and files.

Working knowledge of the rules of golf.

Ability to learn and enforce course policies, rules and regulations.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.

Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.

Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

Extensive background checks required.

Tools and Equipment Used

Golf cart, cash register, janitorial equipment including vacuums, mops, brooms, dusting equipment.
