Lincoln Homestead State Park is a park located just north of Springfield, Kentucky, in Washington County. Our18-hole regulation course takes advantage of the natural rolling hills of central Kentucky. With four teelocations, golfers of all levels can find the right course to challenge their game. Lincoln Homestead State Park has a gift shop, fishing lake, non-powered boat ramp, shelter withsmall playground, an 18-hole disc golf course, and offers self-guided tours of historic buildings, and rentalof clubhouse space for small events or gatherings. The beautiful landscape and team environment of the staffprovide for an enjoyable career within Kentucky State Parks.
Are you interested in working on golf course located in a beautiful setting? We are looking for a golf courseassistant superintendent that enjoys the outdoors, has knowledge and experience of the following: golf coursemaintenance and agronomic operations, budgeting and pesticide application programs, landscape maintenance anddesign, maintenance of a golf equipment fleet, and irrigation repair and operation. We are currently seeking aGolf Course Assistant Superintendent to join and work with the Park's Golf Maintenance Department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Personnel management.
  • Assist Golf Course Superintendent in all phases and agronomic operations on the golf course.
  • Assist in developing long term plans, budgeting plans, and chemical programs.
  • Lead staff in projects and routine maintenance activities.
  • Irrigation repair, instillation, and application to turf.
  • Calibrate and operate the equipment necessary to apply chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Ensure Parks standards and expectations are being met.
  • Public relations and community involvement.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High School Graduate
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years experience working on a golf maintenance staff for a regulation golf course.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:An Associate's degree in plant sciences or a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for ONE of the required two years of working experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed outdoors.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
